What makes
our SpeedCific brand skewers totally unique? Absolutely
Nothing! They are similar to the skewers a lot of other
places sell. Most skewers these days come from the same
handful of Taiwanese manufacturers. Some companies spend
a lot of money on marketing and packaging in an effort
to make their skewers look different and hide their origins.
An
expensive wrapper and costly marketing does not make a
superior product, so we feel it’s kind of a silly
thing to spend money on. Our goal is to provide quality
ultra-light skewers at prices that compete head-on with
mail order retailers.
A: Our SpeedCific bolt-on
skewers weigh 65g for the pair. Lighter than Titanium quick-release
skewers, stiffer, and a lot cheaper to boot. Installs easily
with a 5mm Allen (Hex) wrench. Also makes it a little tougher
for no-goodniks to swipe your wheels (but not a substitute
for a lock). Black or Silver end caps.
B: SpeedCific 76g Ti Q.R. skewers. Some inexpensive Ti skewers
weigh 90g or more. That’s only a few grams less than
quality steel skewers, so what’s the point? Our Ti
skewers offer real weight savings. They have a rubber covered
steel levers for strength. Our supplier tells us this design
is lighter, but not as popular with product managers since
there is no place for a logo on the lever. We decided we’d
rather save you 14g then advertise SpeedCific on your skewers.
C: Our steel quick-release skewers weigh 107g. These are
the skewers that accompany our Perception hubset. They have
aluminum levers, and best of all, logos! If that kind of
stuff matters to you, here you go. ( It IS a cool logo...
) Black or Silver levers and end caps.
